Laura's Home Women's Crisis Center

For we know what real love is because Christ gave up his life for us. And so we also ought to give up our lives

for our Christian brothers and sisters.” 1 John 3:16 (New Life Application Bible)

Laura's Home Women's Crisis Center serves women and children who are in crisis (and often dealing with multiple crises in their lives). The term 'homeless' is sometimes used to describe their situation but their reality is often more complex than simply not having a place to sleep indoors. We are a bridge to the local church and community by providing safety, security and stability to some of the most vulnerable in our society and provide hope that their future does not have to be same as their past.

Last year, Laura’s Home provided 53,928 meals and 37,132 nights of shelter to 639 women and 376 children in crisis. We helped 117 women and 95 children as they worked through our 6 month long-term program.

On June 20, 2009, we celebrated 41 women who were graduated from the long-term program. Read the article about our graduation.

OVERFLOW STATUS - What does it mean?

Cleveland winters can be especially hard. "Overflow" goes into effect when weather is deemed

potentially life-threatening (<20°F + wind chill).  During this time at Crossroads and Laura's Home,

no one is turned away, 24-hr walk-in registration, short-term clients remain inside all day and

"Overflow" status remains in effect until further notice.

Short-term Program provides:

  • Short-term emergency shelter
  • Nutritious meals
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Additional community resources available upon request
  • Chapel service available
  • Spiritual guidance

Long-term Program provides:

  • Long-term shelter
  • Local church involvement
  • Outcomes based case management
  • On-site work activities and job readiness programs
  • Adult continuing education
  • Community awareness activities
