Evening Childcare Volunteer Group

EVENING CHILDCARE VOLUNTEERGROUP  *Direct Resident Contact  

LOCATION: Laura’s Home – 18120 Puritas Ave., Cleveland, OH 44135  

AVAILABLE TIMES: During evening chapel hour on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7-8/8:30pm, or during evening support group times on Thursdays or Fridays from 8-9:30pm.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Provide a safe and secure environment for kids ages 6+ to engage in activities while their moms are attending evening chapel or an evening support group. Activities might include video games, board games, reading, crafts/art projects, etc. 
  2. Ensure that any room or space used during your serving time is cleaned (tables wiped down, toys put away, trash picked up, floors swept, etc.) before you leave. 

 QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Must be passionate about ministering to children in crisis 
  2. Experience working with children (not necessary, but a plus)
  3. Understanding of the boundaries pertaining to the position  
  4. Work respectfully under TCM staff 
  5. Abides by the TCM’s Statement of Faith at all times 
  6. Have the skills necessary to complete the tasks pertaining to the position 
  7. Successfully complete background check and fingerprinting process
  8. Free of an addictive lifestyle

Youth volunteers must be at least 14 years old and serve with an adult/guardian at all times. **Limited opportunities for youth** 

ONBOARDING EXPECTATIONS: 

To ensure the protection and well-being of the child, parent, The City Mission (TCM) staff, and the volunteer groups, Evening Childcare volunteer group members must be mature believers in Jesus Christ and actively attend a local church. Groups interested shall fulfill the following requirements:  

  1. At least 1 group leader must complete the full volunteer process:  
    1. Attend Volunteering 101 Session  
    2. Complete Online Group Volunteer Application  
    3. Sign Volunteer Waiver  
    4. Acknowledge Statement of Faith  
    5. Onsite Meeting and Shadowing experience with Family Ministries Staff 
    6. Background check & fingerprinting  
    7. Acknowledge Volunteer Handbook & specific volunteer position description   
  2.  All other group members must fill out a volunteer waiver and be background checked prior to serving.   
  3. All group members (including the leader) must watch the Family Ministries Training video and read/acknowledge the Evening Childcare Policies document.
