Christian Mentoring Program Volunteer

PATHWAYS CHRISTIAN MENTORING VOLUNTEER *Involves Direct Resident Contact

LOCATION: Laura’s Home- 18120 Puritas Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44135

TIME COMMTIMENT: 1-hour per week as determined by Family Ministries Supervisor and mentee/mentor

The goal of the Christian Mentoring Program is to provide students with an opportunity to be connected to one caring adult that is able and committed to meeting with them weekly for an hour.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Meet weekly and engage in activities (sports, crafts, music, games, etc.) and meaningful conversation with your mentee
  • Pray with and for your mentee
  • Be encouraging and positive
  • Be consistent
  • Communicate with the students’ guardian professionally to coordinate meeting times

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Mature Christian
  2. Must be 18 years of age or older
  3. Passionate about working with kids in crisis
  4. Interpersonal communication skills
  5. Punctual
  6. Understanding of the boundaries pertaining to the position
  7. Work respectfully under TCM staff
  8. Abides by the TCM’s Statement of Faith at all times
  9. Have the skills necessary to complete the tasks pertaining to the position

SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Profess Jesus as Lord and Savior
  • Believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, & ultimate authoritative Word of God (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21)
  • Pattern life after the example of Jesus and the commands and principles found in the Bible
  • Desire to serve the Lord in the ministry of rescue

  3. Sign Volunteer Waiver
  4. Affirm Statement of Faith and Complete Spiritual Journey
  5. Personal Interview/Onsite Visit with Family Ministries Supervisor
  6. Sign Mentoring Handbook & complete Mentor Preference Questionnaire
  7. Background check and fingerprints
